eligibility

This contest is open to people of all ages and backgrounds, except employees of the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership (MRP).

how to enter

To enter this competition, visit the MRP’s Mississippi Minute website (http://mississippiminute.org/) and either (i) fill out the online registration form or (ii) download a registration form, fill it out, and mail it to the Minneapolis Riverfront in accordance with the instructions on the registration web page. The registration should be submitted at the same time as the video is submitted.  Entrants may work individually or in teams of any size, but each entrant is limited to two submissions

Entries and submissions must be made so that they are received by the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership by 5 p.m. CST on Sept. 15, 2015.

video content and restrictions

All submissions must be 60 seconds or less in length and must comply with the digital file formats set forth in these rules.

Videos may use any combination of moving images, stills, drawings, graphics, voice-over, music, live action, animation, or subtitles, but each entrant is solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws in creating and submitting his/her video, including obtaining permission to use all of the materials contained in the video and from all persons who might otherwise claim any rights in the video for all purposes of this competition and the Contest Rules, and specifically including the grant of rights set forth below. Each entrant is also solely responsible for obtaining all applicable permits and permissions to record images, video, or sound on public or private property.

No video submission will be considered if it contains any material (including language) that is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, obscene, racially offensive, or in any other way objectionable. Video content must not serve to promote, advertise, or market any product or service. All videos that are accepted will be hosted on MRP’s Mississippi Minute YouTube channel and thus must also abide by YouTube’s Community Guidelines (https://www.youtube.com/t/community_guidelines). The Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership reserves the right to reject any entry at the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership’s sole and absolute discretion.

file format requirements

  • Video submissions will be hosted onMRP’s Mississippi Minute YouTube channel.  Entrants may submit their videos in the MOV, MPEG4, MP4, AVI, WMV, MPEGPS, FLV, 3GPP, or WebM, digital file formats.
  • Files must be less than 100 MB in size. For guidance on file preparation and compression, visit YouTube upload help: https://support.google.com/youtube/topic/2888648?hl=en.

how to submit your video

In addition to completing the registration form and complying with all of the other terms and conditions of these Contest Rules, entrants must submit their digital video so that they are received by 5 P.M, Sept. 15, 2015.  Entrants must submit their materials in one of three ways:

  • Web upload: Complete the registration form and upload the video at MRP’s Mississippi Minute website (http://mississippiminute.org/)
  • Mail: Entrants may mail a DVD containing their digital video and their registration form to the address listed below. The DVD should be placed in a case.

  • In person: Entrants may deliver their DVD and registration form in person to the address listed above during normal business hours.

The Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership will seek to confirm receipt of a submission by email within 48 hours of its receipt. All dates are subject to change.

The Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership has the non-exclusive right to reproduce, distribute, transmit, display, publicly perform and otherwise use the video for any and all purposes, including theatrical exhibitions, online transmissions and displays, and promotional purposes.

Awards will be given according to the following categories:

  • Best of Show
  • Category – Best of Category, Runner Up
  • Viewer’s Choice Award

Submissions will be judged on their originality and their ability to engage viewers. All decisions of the judges are final. The films will be shown at MRP’s Riverfront Summit, at the Mill City Museum on October 26, 2015. All dates are subject to change.

additional conditions of participation

By submitting an entry, entrant and all participants agree to all of the terms and conditions of these rules and to the decisions of the Mississippi Minute judges, whose decisions shall be final and legally binding in all matters relating to the competition. Each entrant and participant waives the right to assert as a cost of winning any award, any and all costs of verification and redemption or travel to receive an award and any liability that might arise from receiving or seeking to receive an award.

By participating in this competition, each entrant and participant releases the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership, together with it’s respective officers, directors, employees, and agents, from and against any and all liabilities, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons or property, including death and bodily injury, which may be sustained in connection with the participation in the competition or the receipt or use of the video.

By entering this competition, each entrant represents and warrants that he/she has the right to submit the video for all purposes of this competition and hereby grants to the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership, and their designees and agents the non-exclusive right to reproduce, distribute, transmit, display, publicly perform, and otherwise use the video for any and all purposes, including theatrical exhibitions, online transmissions and displays, and promotional purposes.

Any disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this competition, or any awards awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively by arbitration in Minneapolis, Minnesota, pursuant to the rules of the American Arbitration Association then in effect and applying Minnesota law and subject to any limitation of liability set forth in these Contest Rules. Any arbitration award shall be limited to participant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses incurred, if any, and in no event shall participant be entitled to any indirect, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or multiple damages or loss of business or profits, or recovery of attorneys’ fees. The Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership reserves the right to cancel and revoke this competition due to printing errors or other mistakes at their sole discretion.
