Riverfront Happenings

Highlighted Happenings

On Saturday June 27th, join RiverQuest, a two-wheeled team scavenger hunt up and down the Minneapolis riverfront! Explore the famed Mississippi both on and off the beaten path, and dive headlong into its past, present and future.

Through a unique series of clues, each team will explore key points along the riverfront and capture their completed tasks via Instagram (using #RiverQuest2015). At each of several stops along the way, it will be up to you and your team to fulfill the challenge laid out for you.

Sitting within blocks of thousands of Minneapolis workers, residents, and visitors is one of the greatest natural wonders in the world: the Mississippi River. And too many people don’t realize it’s there. The Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership invites you to make the invisible visible using the engaging medium of film.

We invite you to create a vision that tugs at heartstrings or makes people laugh, that showcases an appreciation for – or the future potential of – the riverfront in Minneapolis.  Most important, we want the film to inform, energize, and inspire our citizenry to action – all in 60 seconds!

In Minneapolis, our parks define who we are as people and as a city. So it’s not surprising that we’ve prioritized bringing waterfront parks to the few areas where they don’t yet reach - particularly along the riverfront of North and Northeast Minneapolis.

Those new parks may be a good idea, but how are we going to find the money to fund them? Can we afford to expand our park system — or would we be crazy not to?

Explore this timely topic with us at a fun evening event. Join Jayne Miller, Superintendent of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, for what we expect will be an insightful and enjoyable interview with the always-entertaining Theater of Public Policy.
